Police extend winning run; Army, Karnali eliminated

By Our Correspondent,Machhapuchhre (Kaski), May 27: The defending champions, Nepal Police Club, extended their winning streak with a fourth consecutive victory in the women's division of the 9th Prime Minister Cup NVL League.

On Monday, Police outlasted Tribhuvan Army Club in a hard-fought five-setter, securing a 3–2 win and solidifying their path to the finals. In the showdown at the covered hall of Pokhara Stadium, Police battled through a back-and-forth contest with set scores of 24–26, 25–11, 25–19, 21–25, and 15–9.

Police leads the standings with 11 points, while Army managed to salvage only one point from the extended match before being knocked out of the league stage. Among the six squads in the women's bracket, Tribhuvan Army Club and Karnali Province have been eliminated.

Earlier today, Everest Volleyball Club cruised to a straight-set victory against Karnali, recording their second win of the league. Everest dominated with set scores of 25–14, 25–7, and 25–20.

In the women’s rankings, Police, New Diamond Sports Club, Nepal APF Club, and Everest remain in contention for the championship.

Meanwhile, in the men's category, home team Gandaki Province continued their stellar run, picking up a fifth consecutive win on Monday to strengthen their bid for a finals berth.

In the opening men's matchup, Gandaki powered past Sudurpaschim Province in straight sets, securing a sweep with scores of 25–13, 25–20, and 25–20.

In another men’s clash, Tribhuvan Army Club overcame an early setback to rally past Koshi Province 3–1. Despite dropping the first set 21–25, Army bounced back with a dominant response, taking the next three frames 25–19, 25–21, and 25–20.
