BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, May 26: The Gorkhapatra Corporation bid farewell to Consulting Editor Upesh Maharjan on Sunday, marking the end of his two-year tenure following his appointment by the Council of Ministers on May 26, 2023.
At the event, Gorkhapatra Corporation Executive Chairman Bishnu Prasad Subedi and General Manager Lal Bahadur Airi presented tokens of appreciation to Maharjan. Additionally, heads of departments, including the head of publications, along with other colleagues, also extended their farewells.
Executive Chairman also pointed out the cordial relationship and strong collaboration he had with Maharjan during his tenure, describing him as a kind-hearted and creative individual.
Similarly, General Manager Airi emphasised that Maharjan, who rose through the ranks within the Corporation to become Consulting Editor, stands as an example that it is possible to reach senior positions through dedicated service from within the organisation.
In his remarks, Maharjan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at the Gorkhapatra Corporation for 17 years, 10 months and 27 days, first as a journalist and later as Consulting Editor. He expressed deep affection for Gorkhapatra, calling it a historic institution and a school of Nepali journalism. He also affirmed that his connection with it would always remain strong.
Acting Editor-in-Chief of Gorkhapatra Daily Junarbabu Basnet, Digital Unit Head Naradmuni Gautam, Head of Planning Department Bhagirath Basnet and former Chairman of the Nepal National Employees’ Organisation Bishnu Prasad Khanal also praised Maharjan’s contribution to the corporation.
