By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 26: Poet Suman Thapa ‘Sangam’ has come up with a collection of poems titled 'Abhyudaya'.
The book was launched by her family members amid an event in the capital on Friday.
The collection features 52 poems that reflect her deep engagement with themes of social justice, human emotions, and lyrical expression. Moreover, it marks Sangam’s poetic maturity and her insightful voice on social and emotional realities.
Thapa, who has previously published works like Maitigharko Phool and Premko Aadim Geet (a collaborative work), is celebrated for her unique ability to merge poetic beauty with social awareness.
The event commenced with an introductory speech by the poet herself, followed by a warm welcome address by Samiksha KC.
Several noted poets and literary figures were present on the occasion. They read selected poems from the collection and offered critical perspectives. Poet Rami Priya recited Sangharsha, poet Bishwo Sigdel read Ajambari Phool, and poet Babu Karki performed Ghaam Odhera Hidepachhi. Poet Prollas Sindhuliya also shared his reading of Hriday Dukheko Bakhat. Poet Sangam herself recited two of her poems - Baluwaama Lekhiyeko Naam and Brihat Kathamaa Aama.
Critic Dr. Shekhar Shrestha offered an in-depth critique of the book, praising Thapa’s use of symbols and imagery. “These poems artfully bridge the natural and emotional realms,” he said, emphasising how themes like feminine struggle, familial aspirations, and imaginative articulation have been powerfully presented.
