National art workshop concludes in Bhojpur

By Our Correspondent,Bhojpur, May 23: A three-day national art workshop titled ‘Tyamkemaiyum on Canvas’ in the western part of Tyamkemaiyum Rural Municipality of Bhojpur district has been completed recently. 

 The workshop was held with the participation of 20 artists, including the Head of the Painting Department of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Sanjaya Bantawa.

 The workshop aimed to promote tourism through visual art by illustrating the uniqueness of Temkemaiyung, its tourist destinations, the Mundum trail, the endangered red panda, Sumnima Paruhang, and more.

Organised by the Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality in collaboration with the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, the workshop concluded with an art exhibition.

According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Saroj Basnet, the event, held with the theme ‘Agriculture, Tourism, and Cultural Infrastructure: The Foundation of Temkemaiyung’s Development’, highlighted and promoted local tourism, and the development of the Mundum trekking route. 

Chairperson Basnet said, “This artwork has helped promote Temkemaiyung at both national and international levels, encouraging visits from those well-wishers who have not yet had the opportunity to witness the area firsthand.”

Stating that  Bhojpur is a district rich in religious, cultural, and tourism potential, the Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Naradmani Hartamchhali, expressed that it was essential to publicly present this potential through fine art. 

He added that this initiative has begun through the Temkemaiyung on Canvas programme.

Participants included Sanjaya Bantawa, Head of the Painting Department, Aruna Hingmang, Head of the Handicrafts Department, senior artist Ganesh Lama, and 20 artists in total, who visually portrayed the unique aspects of Temkemaiyung.
