Two women die after being hit by car in Kapilvastu

By Janu Pandey, Kapilvastu, May 16: Two women who were out for a morning walk in Basantapur, Buddhabhumi Municipality -1, Kapilvastu, died after being hit by a car on Friday morning.

A car (BAD 9599) en route towards Gorusinge hit them on the Gorusinge-Arghakhanchi road section on Friday morning at around 5:45 AM.

Police Inspector Birat Sharma Poudel of the  Area Police Office, Gorusinge, said that the deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Shanta Khatri and 65-year-old Tilkumari Rayamajhi, who were seriously injured in the accident, died on the way to Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa, for treatment.

The driver of the car, Khimraj Shrestha, aged 32, a resident of Sainamaina Municipality-5, Rupandehi, has been taken into custody by the police. 

Police said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
