Kathmandu, May 14: A delegation led by Han Moon-hee, President of the Korea Railroad Corporation, has today discussed the development of railways in Nepal with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
In a meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, the established South Korean railway company with a 126-year history has shown a willingness to collaborate for railway construction in Nepal.
During the meeting, an animation video of the 'Everest Railway Project' from Chhataradham to Chaurikharka was presented. The video was prepared by Sky Walk Company.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, along with Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board Sushil Gyawali, participated in the discussion.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli stated that Nepal has already commenced rail operations from Janakpur, and in the context of feasibility studies for railway construction and operations in other areas, he highlighted that the initiative for Korean collaboration is positive.
Representatives of the Corporation had previously reached an agreement with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and the Investment Board to form a joint working group to study railway construction and cooperation, it is stated. (RSS)
