Auditor General Toyam Raya presented the document to the Head-of-the-State amidst a programme held at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas on Wednesday.

On the occasion, the President said, "It is a challenge for advancing good governance for the government to record a growing size of arrears each year." He urged all the office bearers responsible for the operation of the State funds to be more accountable to the need to reduce arrears.

"It is a matter of growing concern that the volume of arrears in the government expenditures was rising, warranting the need of implementing the laws and economic discipline in the expenditures system," the President said, expressing his hope that the Office of the Auditor General would take further measures in maintaining economic discipline and fiscal responsibilities.(RSS)
