By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 13: Poet Ishwar Mani Adhikari has come up with a new poetry collection titled Sanu Sathi in Nepali.
Renowned literary figures such as Sarubhakta, Tirtha Shrestha, Ramesh Shrestha, Saraswati Pratikshya, Laxman Thapa, critic and analyst Bishwo Sigdel, Dr. Asmita Adhikari and poet Adhikari himself jointly launched the book in Pokhara recently.
Veteran writer and dramatist Sarubhakta, who has been closely following Adhikari’s poetic journey with admiration for nearly three decades, praised the depth of his work. “Adhikari skillfully presents the tragedies and bitter truth of contemporary times with profound narrative force,” he remarked. “His poetry is distinguished by its sensitivity, depth, philosophical tone, and layered meanings.”
Poet Tirtha Shrestha noted that while some writers get trapped competing with their own past works, each of Adhikari’s creations stands out as stronger and more impactful than the last. “His poems are intellectual and philosophical, yet equally heartfelt and tender,” said Shrestha. “He is one of the leading poets in contemporary Nepali poetry.”
Critic Bishwo Sigdel highlighted the multidimensional nature of the collection Sanu Sathi, commending Adhikari’s expansive philosophical vision. “Like the profound quotes found in the Vedas and Upanishads, Adhikari crafts emotionally resonant poems using minimal yet powerful words,” Sigdel said.
Poet Ramesh Shrestha described Adhikari as a poet who embodies a unique awareness of time, with intellectual and philosophical depth.
Dr. Asmita Adhikari, the poet’s daughter who is currently a research scientist at Johnson & Johnson in California of the US after earning her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Maryland, shared emotional reflections on her deep and intimate bond with her father.
Poet Adhikari remarked that life and poetry are synonymous for him. He recited two poems from the collection titled 'Sanu Sathi' and 'Chhori Ko Namma', both dedicated to his daughter Asmita.
Acting President of the Pokhareli Sanskrikit Pariwar, Laxman Thapa, noted that Adhikari’s work brings a meditative joy and presence of mind.
Poet Adhikari dedicated the entire collection to his daughter Asmita, and launched the book on the occasion of her birthday. The book is published by the Pokhreli Yuva Sanskritik Pariwar.
