Kathmandu, May 12: Chairman of the
National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, has said all sides' cooperation is
imperative to develop Lumbini, the birthplace of Guatam Buddha, as a major
shrine.
Giving a message of best wishes on
the occasion of the 2569th Buddha Jayanti today, Chairman Dahal viewed once
Lumbini is promoted as the top shrine, it could draw a huge number of tourists.
For it to happen, government needs to augment efforts.
"Lord Buddha's teachings
stress peace, non-violence, good deed and human welfare," he said,
underlining the need of making Lumbini the world centre of Buddhist faith.
Adherence to Buddha's principles
helps us maintain peace and non-violence, he added.
The Chairman also extended greetings
on the occasion of the Ubhauli festival celebrated by the Kirat people today
