By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 11: Press Center Nepal has submitted a memorandum to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung.
PCN central
committee office bearers reached Communication Ministry to submit the 15-point memorandum
that included issues and its concerns related to press freedom and press
sector, ensuring health and life insurance while increasing amount of accident
insurance of journalists.
The PCN team
also held a meeting and also submitted the memorandum to secretary of the
Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Radhika Aryal.
Receiving the memorandum, secretary Aryal responded that the ministry remains committed to press freedom and that challenges have emerged to provide allowance to senior journalists due to Article 45 of the Good Governance Act.
She also
assured the PCN delegation led by its Chair Kamal Giri that the Ministry would
address the demands put forth by the team as far as practicable.
Meanwhile, PCN said that the organisation's provincial, district and local level committees also submitted the memorandum to the concerned authorities in their respective levels.
