By Our Correspondent,Jajarkot, May 8: Beehives with bees have been distributed to beekeeping farmers in the district.
Prime Minister Agriculture Modernisation Project, Jajarkot has distributed 200 beehives with bees to farmers in the honey production area.
The Prime Minister Agriculture Modernisation Project, which has been working for the past year to make beekeepers self-reliant in honey, has distributed 200 beehives with bees to farmers in Bheri Municipality-1, 2 and 4, Nalgad Municipality-1, 2 and 3 and Kushe Rural Municipality-5.
A total of 182 empty beehives have been distributed to farmers interested in beekeeping.
The Prime Minister Agriculture Modernisation Project has provided beehives on the basis of the demands of farmers in the villages where honey is produced.
According to Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the Prime Minister Agricultural Modernisation Project, Jajarkot, 200 beehives with bees and 182 empty beehives for keeping bees have been distributed to beekeepers as per their demand.
According to him, some wards of Bheri Municipality, Nalgad Municipality and Kushe Rural Municipality have become honey pocket areas and have been distributed to improve the income of farmers through honey production.
To make work easier for beekeepers, the project has distributed 51 mini-tillers, one trench digging machine, four power sprays, and 14 brush cutters, he said.
According to him, the materials have been distributed through 46 farmers' groups and cooperatives listed in the Prime Minister Modernisation Project as per the need.
Thapa said that the project has worked at all seven local levels in the beekeeping, walnuts, oranges and lentils zones to bring about a change in the living standards of people who are self-reliant and earn their livelihood through agriculture.
According to Rashmi Neupane, Technician of the Prime Minister Agricultural Modernisation Project, Jajarkot, 6,000 kg of honey has been produced this year.
