By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 8: The 106th birth anniversary of the Centenary Literary Figure, Satyamohan Joshi, is being celebrated with a week-long series of events from May 7 to 13.
According to Rajit Bahadur Shrestha, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Folk Literature Council, the film ‘Baidhya Ba’, made based on a full-length play written by Centenarian Joshi, will be screened at Labim Mall in Lalitpur on May 13.
The play is based on the life of the late Nepal Bhasa lexicographer Panna Prasad Joshi and narrates a true story from the year 1963.
The film, produced by the Folk Literature Council, has been written and directed by Shanta Raj Shakya, with Krishna Prajapati as co-director, Suman Kapali as background music composer, Sanjeevan Shakya as editor, and Rajit Bahadur Shrestha as manager.
The cast includes Sharad Kasa, Purnima Shakya, Dharma Krishna Shrestha, Bimala Manandhar, Amir Maiya Ranjit, Hikmat Bahadur Shrestha, Shashikala Manandhar, Regan Ranjit, and Mohana Devi Maharjan, among others, according to manager Shrestha.
Additionally, various programmes will be held at the Council building established by Joshi, including a book exhibition, museum visits, lighting of 106 lamps, and a solo short story reading by Naresh Amatya.
On the same day, five books published by the Nepal Bhasa Dictionary and Ashta Ganesh Research Centre will be launched, informed Shrestha.
