By Anil Parajuli,Hetauda, May 7: A team from the Department of Mines and Geology has arrived in Hetauda to investigate a vehicle that mysteriously sank and disappeared underground in Gairigaun of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-17. The geological experts began their on-site study on Tuesday morning.
The team, which includes geologists Narayan Adhikari, Krishna Pandey, Mani Khanal, and sampler Amar Thapa, has started a ground survey to search for the missing vehicle.
Along with the geologists, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan Mayor Mina Kumari Lama, Deputy Mayor Rajesh Baniya, Spokesperson Sabin Neupane, Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 16 Ram Krishna Koirala, Ward No. 17 Chairperson Uddhav Satyal, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal from the District Police Office, Makwanpur, also reached the site.
Geologist Narayan Adhikari said that a detailed study was underway to understand the geographical features, soil composition, and possible causes of the incident. The team plans to use various tools to examine the underground soil structure and groundwater levels beneath the site.
They will use a Proton Magnetometer to study the magnetic field of the area. Based on the data collected by the magnetometer, the team aims to identify anomalies in the magnetic properties of the terrain and substances underground.
The investigation will cover the area's geomorphology, underground water sources, and magnetic field characteristics. The four-member team from the Department has begun their study of the spot where the vehicle disappeared. Despite five days having passed since the incident on Friday, the Bolero van with registration number Na 4 Cha 4833 that sank into the road has still not been found.
