By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 8: While the budget preparation work is moving in full swing at the Ministry of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has been busy consulting with top leaders of different political parties.
On Tuesday, he met Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and leader of the main opposition party Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and discussed the budget issues.
Deputy Prime Minister Paudel reached former Prime Minister Prachanda's Khumaltar-based residence in Lalitpur on Tuesday morning and discussed the issues relating to budget, according to secretariat of Prachanda.
With the date to present budget for the upcoming fiscal year approaching closer, DPM Paudel has intensified the discussions with leaders of political parties.
On Monday, DPM Paudel consulted with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in regard to budget formation for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26.
The Ministry of Finance has been preparing the budget while consulting with many sectors, including leaders of political parties, former finance minister and representatives of private sector's umbrella organisations.
The government presented its policy and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26 on Friday aiming to attain rapid economic growth.
As per the constitutional provision, the government has to present budget for the next fiscal year 2025/26 at a joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 29.
