By Nabaraj Kattel,Biratnagar, Apr. 30: A pharmaceutical industry built at a cost of Rs. 1 billion has come into operation with the investment partnership of two youths from Biratnagar.

The pharmaceutical industry named Alexa Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd. has come into operation in Budhiganga Rural Municipality-2, Morang.

The industry, established with the investment partnership of Dinesh Thakur, who is active in the health sector, and Ranjit Bhagat, who is active in the industry, has started trial production.

The sale of medicine produced from the industry will start from mid-August 2025, said investor Thakur.

"There are two types of medicines, oral and electoral," he said. "We produce saline water that reaches the human body from the blood, so we have to wait for some time for the test."

He claimed that the machines in the industry, which have a lab established in an international standard building structure, are of German technology.

The industry has a financial collaboration with Everest Bank.

An agreement has been reached to invest Rs. 600 million by the bank, while partners Thakur and Bhagat have put in Rs. 400 million.

Operator Thakur said that Rs. 750 million has been invested in the industry so far and an additional Rs. 250 million is required to operate at its full capacity.

The bank has already invested Rs. 450 million and investors have invested Rs. 300 million so far.

The industry aims to bring its products to the market in three phases.

In the first phase, LVP will be available in volumes ranging from 100 ml to 3,000 ml.

After its marketing, it is claimed that SVP medicines will be produced in the second phase.

Medicines ranging from 1 ml to 20 ml will be prepared under SVP.

After these two products reach the market, drops under ENT services will be produced in the third phase, said Thakur.

The products were also made public at a press conference organised by the operator on Monday evening to provide information about the establishment of the industry and its products.

Thakur said that the Department of Drug Administration is conducting final testing of saline water products.

According to the industry, about 150 people will be employed when it becomes fully operational.

Industrialist Thakur claimed that the goal is to replace the saline water currently imported from India.

This is the first saline water industry in Koshi Province. There is another industry producing saline water in Birgunj.

He said that if the products up to the third phase are successfully marketed, then preparations will be made for insulin production.
