16 sheep and goats killed and 38 missing due to landslides and lightning

Bajura, April 29: Sixteen sheep were killed and 38 more went missing due to rain, landslides, and lightning accompanied by strong winds in Bajura, stated the District Police Office Bajura.

The District Police Office Bajura's Inspector and Spokesperson, Naresh Bahadur Shahi, said that 16 sheep and goats died and 38 went missing due to a landslide and lightning that occurred with the rainstorm on Tuesday evening while driving the livestock back home from the forest in Upper Huni, Jagannath Rural Municipality-2 in the northeastern part of the district.

According to him, police spokesperson Shahi stated that in the same Rural Municipality-2, two goats of local resident Chaina Bahadur Bista died and nine others went missing while three goats of Amrit Lwar died and fourteen went missing in a landslide.

A landslide triggered by heavy rain buried the livestock, resulting in the death of five livestock and ten missing, while three sheep belonging to Ain Bahadur Bishta were killed and five goats missing in the incident. Similarly, in Triveni Municipality-9, at Koya Lek, three sheep died due to a lightning strike at local Kul Bahadur Saud's shed.

The police have reported that there was extensive damage caused by hail, lightning, and strong winds that occurred on Tuesday evening. (RSS)
