Kathmandu, April 27: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has stressed the need addressing the needs of all regions and geography during the budget formulation.
In a review meeting at the Ministry today about the expenditures of the Ministry and subordinate bodies in the current fiscal, he stressed that the upcoming budget should address the concerns of citizens widely including by regions and geography.
"Let's demand the budget that is viable for expenditures and complete the projects on time," he said.
Underlining the need of just allocations of the budget, he was of the view of promoting the use of technology to make the functioning of the ministry more effective.
Pressing the need for controlling unnecessary expenditures, he urged all the bodies and employees to make their presence in deliveries.
Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya said the progress of multi-purpose projects of national pride is not satisfactory.
As he said, the ministry faces the budgetary constraint to achieve the goals of Energy Development Roadmap unveiled by the government recently. "Efforts are underway by the ministry level to increase the budget ceiling."
Irrigation Secretary Sarita Dawadi proposed the provision of investing the funds remained unspent in one project to another project. She was of the opinion of giving priority to the use of underground irrigation, adding that farmers should have access to irrigation facility and accountability for irrigation projects is ensured when farmlands get water.(RSS)
