Dhanusha, April 25: Deputy Chief of Mission for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Nepal, Matthias Mayer, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister of the Madhes Province, Satish Kumar Singh, here, today.
During the meeting, they discussed the progress, challenges and solutions of various schemes being run by the SDC in Madhes province in collaboration and coordination with the province government, according to Chief Minister Singh's press advisor Anil Kumar Karna.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Singh appreciated the Swiss government's long and continuous support to Nepal's development efforts and said that it was difficult to make maximum use of the available resources due to lack of systematic and broader development of governance and structure of the federal system during its short practice.
He said preparations were underway to provide skill-based education through Madhes University to produce skilled manpower going for foreign employment and the provincial government was committed to encourage those returning from foreign employment to set up enterprises in the country.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief of Mission Mayer agreed to cooperate and partner in the implementation of the projects to be carried out by the Mission in the coming days.
On the occasion, he talked about the efforts of SDC in the field of safe labour migration, and also shared on the experience of the mission's projects on making foreign employment safe, dignified and productive and utilizing the labor, skills and capital of the foreign employment returnees in the country.
