Kathmandu, April 19: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, informed that government was planning to bring a programme to clean up rivers in the Kathmandu Valley.
At a programme organized today on the occasion of the 10th year of Buddhnagar clean up campaign launched by the locals, DPM Singh reiterated that trend of emptying drainpipes into river and stream must end to ensure clean Kathmandu. He also shared that the Ministry would discuss with the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority and the Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee on why the objectives of the investment on clean up campaign was not met.
He lauded the Buddhanagar locals of Kathmandu as a positive work of cleaning. He expressed gratitude to them. The DPM also urged all sides concerned to involve in the cleaning drive.
The sanitation campaign launched before the 2015 Earthquake had completed 522 weeks, according to him.
A campaigner and member of the Constituent Assembly, Mohan Kumar Rai, informed that the sanitation drive was launched to encourage people for clean community.
Subash Rai from Third Eye Youth Club said the cleaning drive had given satisfaction to the campaigners. (RSS)
