By Radhakrishna Dumre,Syangja (Waling), Apr. 17: A campaign to register citizens' personal and biometric details for the purpose of issuing National Identity Cards has officially begun in Syangja since Tuesday.

The District Administration Office has announced that mobile teams are now reaching the ward level in all 11 local levels of the district to collect necessary personal data.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer Deepak Paudel, teams have been deployed to local municipalities to ensure that the service is accessible to the disabled and economically disadvantaged citizens.

These teams will visit every ward office under each municipality to collect citizens' details, take photographs and complete the formalities required for the national ID card.

Previously, this service was available only at the District Administration Office in Syangja and the Area Administration Offices.

Paudel said that around 70–80 people would visit the district and area offices daily to have their photographs taken for the ID cards, often leading to heavy crowds and long waits.

The decision to dispatch mobile teams was made to reduce this burden and improve service delivery, he said.

The campaign is also ongoing at the District Administration Office. Since the deployment of these mobile units at the ward level, large numbers of citizens have been seen lining up to fill up the necessary forms.

The campaign was launched from Aandhikhola Rural Municipality, where elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, and those from low-income backgrounds have benefited.

Chairperson of Aandhikhola Rural Municipality, Bishwo Nath Paudel, confirmed that data collection would now be conducted directly at the ward level, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the registration process.
