Dr. Pantha to receive Janaki Literature Award

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT, Gulmi, Apr. 7: Kiran Library in Tamghas, Gulmi has announced that poet and critic Dr. Tanka Pantha will be honoured with this year’s Janaki Literature Award.

On the occasion of Ram Nawami, the library announced on Sunday that Dr. Pantha originally from Digham of Chhatrakot Municipality, will receive the award in recognition of his contribution to Nepali poetry and criticism. 

Dr. Pantha is also the campus head of the Tribhuvan Multiple Campus in Palpa. 

The award, established in 2016 in memory of the late Janaki Gyawali Gautam is presented annually by Kiran Library on Moti Jayanti. It is awarded to literary figures who were born in Gulmi or have created literature centred on Gulmi. 

Janaki Gyawali Gautam, a prominent literary figure, social worker and women's rights advocate, passed away at an early age on November 27, 2016.
