By Our Correspondent,Janakpur, Apr. 3: The Nepal Vidyapati Award Fund has decided to honour 10 creators from various fields.
A meeting of the Fund’s Executive Council held on March 30 decided to present awards to 10 individuals, with two recipients each in the fields of Maithili language, literature, arts, culture, research, manuscripts, and translation for the years 2024 and 2025.
The Nepal Vidyapati Maithili Language and Literature Award will be presented to the Maithili Vikas Kosh and Prof. Bhola Jha.
These institutions, which have contributed to the promotion of Maithili literature and language, will receive special recognition.
The Nepal Vidyapati Maithili Arts and Culture Award will be given to Ramkumar Mandal and Deepa Mithila Art Gallery.
The organisers said that their contribution to the preservation and promotion of Maithili art has been significant.
Similarly, the Nepal Vidyapati Maithili Research Award will be presented to Binod Kumar Yadav and Malakumari Karn, recognising their active contributions to the study and research of the Maithili language.
The Nepal Vidyapati Maithili Manuscript Award will be awarded to Shyam Sundar Shashi and Kashikant Jha for their efforts in preserving old Maithili documents and manuscript research.
Likewise, the Nepal Vidyapati Translation Award will be conferred upon Vidhyadhar Jha and Shyam Sundar Yadav for their role in translating literary works into Maithili, thereby expanding their reach.
The Nepal Vidyapati Award Fund has been annually honouring individuals and institutions that contribute to the fields of Maithili language, literature, arts, research, and translation.
According to the Fund, the award distribution ceremony will be held on April 3 at the Nepal Bar Association Hall.
Madhes Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh will attend the ceremony as the chief guest.
Established by the Government of Nepal in 2068 BS, the Vidyapati Award Fund has been distributing awards every year.
According to the Fund’s Member Secretary, Dhruva Kumar Mandal Amat, however, due to various reasons, the 2024 award could not be distributed last year, so both the 2024 and 2025 awards will be presented this year.
