Damauli, March 16: The literary
(prose) department of Nepal Academy and the Drama Forum, Tanahu organized the
Gandaki Province Literature Festival, gathering literati from 10
districts.
The literary figures and literature
enthusiasts from 10 districts of the province attended the festival. Manag
district failed to secure participation in the event.
The festival was held under the
chairmanship of head of the literature department of Nepal Academy, Amar
Neupane. Five stories were recited and a play 'Mardana' presented during the
event.
Dr Shadanan Paudel had given a
lecture on literary writing of Gandaki Province. His lecture was commented by
critic Kashi Nath Neupane and litterateur Ambika Bhattarai.
Litterateur Amar Neupane underlined
the need for identifying issues of the region and writing clearly about those.
It is the responsibility of Nepal Academy to bring into light the issues that
are left to back water, he added.
Similarly, other speakers informed
that various literary associations in the local and province level were
collaborating with Nepal Academy for the promotion and preservation of Nepali
literature, and languages which are facing extinction. (RSS)
