Strong wind causes damage in Thaha Municipality

By Ram Mani Dahal,Hetauda, March. 15: A powerful wind has caused significant damages in various wards of Thaha Municipality in Makwanpur district.

Heavy winds accompanied by hailstorms hit Ward Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 8 of the municipality, causing damage to at least 18 houses.

According to the Bagmati Province Police Office in Hetauda, five houses made of mud and stone had their roofs blown off and collapsed while roofs of 11 other houses suffered severe damages.

As per police reports, roofs of eight houses in  Dharapani in Ward No. 4,   Dandagau in Ward No. 3 and Deurali, along with eight other houses in Naliban in Ward No. 5 were completely blown away by the wind. 

Despite the extensive damage to homes, authorities confirmed that there were no human casualties or loss of livestock.

In Dandagau, a house of 54-year-old Madhu Sudan Bista, built with stone and mud, was destroyed while the wind blew its corrugated iron roof. 

Similarly, 27-year-old Dil Maya Gole’s wooden house with a tin roof was also destroyed. The storm also blew the roofs of houses belonging to Ratna Syangtang, Shyam Gole, Raj Kumar Bhujel and Rajan Bhujel in Deurali.

The storm also severely impacted Naliban in Ward No. 5, damaging houses belonging to Hira Pakhrin, Raju Pakhrin, Ramesh Pakhrin, Deepak Pakhrin, Ganesh Pakhrin and Jagannath Acharya. 

Additionally, Ram Singh Rayamajhi and Nakul Karki’s houses suffered damages. Local police carried out rescue operations for affected families, while locals reported damage to vegetable tunnels and crops because of the hailstorm.
