By TRN Online, Kathmadnu, May 5: Nepal defeated Oman by 81 runs in the Cricket World Cup League- 2 on Tuesday, led by Aasif Sheikh’s fluent batting and Gulshan Jha’s five-wicket haul.
At the Tribhuvan University (TU) International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal set a 257-run target to Oman; however, Oman was all out in 39.5 overs, scoring 175 runs. Captain of Oman, Jatinder Singh, made 12 runs.
Likewise, Oman opener Hasnain U Wahab made 29 off 43 balls, while Hamad Mirza scored 34 off 51 balls and Vinayak Shukla added 36 off 41 balls. Hasnain Shah contributed 14 off 10 balls.
Aryan Bisht made six runs, Jiten Ramanandi made three runs, Wasim Ali made 10 runs, Nadeem Khan made 12 runs and Hassnain Shah made 14 runs.
In bowling, Nepal's Gulsan Jha took five wickets, Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC, Dipendra Singh Airee and Nandan Yadav took one wicket each.
Nepal set the target if 256 runs in 49.5 overs.
For Nepal, Aasif Sheikh scored 94 runs in 97 balls, seven fours and five sixes. Arjun Kumal scored 48 runs in 87 balls.
Dipendra Singh Airee scored 33 runs in 42 balls , Captain Rohit Paudel scored 9 runs in 16 balls. Gulsan Jha scored 17 runs in 23 balls.
At the ending of the game, Aarif Sheikh made 43 runs in 24 balls, contributing to the scorecard.
For Oman, Shakeel Ahmed took 2 wickets, Nadeem Khan took 3 wickets, Hassnain Shah took 2 wickets.
