Kathmandu, March 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli welcomed the national and international participants of the Himabatkhanda Art, Literature and Culture Conference-2081 at his residence, Baluwatar on Friday.

The three-day event is organized by the Madan Bhandari Arts and Literature Foundation.

PM Oli expressed happiness over the conduct of such international conference on art, literature and culture focusing the Himabat region, which, he argued, is a significant part of human civilization.

Himabatkhanda is the provenance of knowledge, yog, mathematics, philosophy and civilization, PM Oli said, urging the participants to whet study and exchange knowledge and information on these fields.

The three-day event is attended by some 500 literati and literature enthusiasts from Nepal, India, Myanmar, Bhutan and Thailand. Total 58 persons have come from abroad.

The conference was inaugurated by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday. PM Oli, who is the patron of the Foundation, is scheduled to address the concluding function of the conference on Sunday.

The scholars from seven provinces of Nepal are presenting their papers in the conference.

Earlier, similar conference was held in Nepal six years back.(RSS)
