Nepal lose to Namibia by 23 runs

Kathmandu, Mar. 13: Nepal's final hope in the Women's Day Cup Twenty20 International Series faded after losing to Namibia by 23 runs in Entebbe on Wednesday.

Nepal's batting struggled as they recorded their second loss to Namibia and third defeat in the series. In a previous match, Nepal lost to Hong Kong by 2 runs. However, they managed to secure a win against Uganda.

The Nepali women's team is now at the bottom of the table with just two points. Hong Kong leads the table with six points from three wins, while Namibia has climbed to second position with two wins, overtaking host Uganda based on net run rate.

Chasing a target of 126 runs, Nepal was restricted to 102 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Sana Prabeen top-scored for Nepal with 31 runs.

Kabita Joshi contributed 17 runs, while Captain Indu Barma and Puja Mahato both scored 15 runs each. Aside from these four, no other player managed to reach double figures. Eveleen Kejarukua claimed 2 wickets for Namibia.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Nepal chose to field first. Namibia posted a total of 125 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Yasmeen Khan was the standout performer for Namibia with 45 runs off 44 balls, hitting 5 fours. Wilka Mwatile added 20 runs, and Sune Wittmann scored 15 runs, while Arrasta Diergaardt remained unbeaten on 16 runs.

Ishwori Bista was Nepal's best bowler, taking 3 wickets, while Rachana Chaudhary picked up 2 wickets.

Nepal will face Hong Kong in their next match tomorrow.
