by Rajan Pariyar,Parvat, Mar. 10: The Mudikuwa-Jhakalaka-Lamya section of the main road connecting the four local levels in the southern region of Parbat district, has been in poor condition for years, causing significant inconvenience for locals.
The road is full of potholes, its drain built on one side has collapsed, and the blacktop has worn out. In winter, it becomes dusty and in the rainy season, it turns muddy, making travel difficult.
This road has been in dilapidated condition for the past six years, and the road has not been repaired for years. Locals have expressed frustration, stating that repairs planned for June/July were delayed until September/October, worsening the condition.
The road, with numerous potholes and sharp bends, increases the risk of accidents. Local authorities have been neglecting the situation and the road is left in a deteriorated condition.
Suman Pariyar, a driver, and local youth activists highlighted the risk of accidents due to the road's condition. The District Traffic Police Office in Parbat reported up to 15 accidents annually on this particular road section.
Deputy Mayor of Phalewas Municipality, Sobha Kumari Chhetri, acknowledged the poor condition, stating she has raised the issue in the municipality multiple times, but no action has been taken.
Phalewas Municipality's Mayor, Gangadhar Tiwari, confirmed that efforts were underway to repair the road during this fiscal year, with a budget of Rs. 120 million being sought for the work.
