By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 10: Poet Dinesh Adhikari’s poetry collection ‘Paniko Parade’ has been released recently.
Nepalaya has released Adhikari’s poetry collection on the occasion of 50 years since his poems started being published.
“My poetic parade began when two of my poems were published in Ratnashree in 1976,” said Adhikari at the book launch event. “From Antarka Chhita to Paniko Parade, my journey in poetry has brought me here.”
The poet reminisced about how he used to frequent the homes of renowned poets Siddhicharan Shrestha, Kedar Man Vyathit, Bhupi Sherchan and Basu Shashi as key literary destinations.
He recalled how in 1979, he stood in support of freedom of expression, democracy, and a multiparty system, alongside senior poets like Mohan Koirala, Hari Bhakta Katwal, and Bhawani Ghimire during political movements.
“In 1981, I became a government employee. That same year, in 1982, a poem titled Samaya that I co-wrote with Bishnu Vibhu Ghimire was published in Rastrapukar,” Adhikari recalled.
Paniko Parade comprises 77 selected poems written over the last 15 years.
The book is divided into seven sections.
The poet, who won the Madan Puraskar for his poetry collection Atirikta Abhilekh, had his previous book, Bhariyako Bhugol, also published by Nepalaya.
“Poet Dinesh Adhikari presents a strong flow of emotions naturally and eloquently, which deeply resonates with readers,” said Publication Nepalaya’s editor Bimal Acharya. “The 77 poems in Paniko Parade form a seven-coloured canvas painted with the hues of his heart.”
Despite the notion that poetry has a smaller market compared to other literary genres, Publication Nepalaya continues to publish at least one poetry collection annually to honor artistic and literary contributions.
The 180-page Paniko Parade is priced at Rs. 525.
