Geta College will be upgraded to university: PM Oli

Kanchanpur, March 9: Prime Minister and Chancellor of Far Western University (FWU), KP Sharma Oli, has said the Geta Medical College in Kailali will soon be upgraded as a medical university. 

In his address to the FWU fifth convocation and senate on Sunday, the Prime Minister said the elevation of the facility into the university was his agenda since the beginning. He urged the College management to be sure that the facility will be developed as the University.     

On a different note, he said a dry port will be constructed targeting the Dodhara-Chandani with the establishment of the Daiji Chhela Industrial Corridor.     

He said he had raised the issue with his Indian counterpart when he was the prime minister earlier for the construction of a bridge along the border along with the bridge connecting the Parshuram area of Dadeldhura. Prime Minister Oli pledged to take the initiative for the construction of a concrete bridge in the area.     

Professor Dr Satpal Singh Bisht, the Vice Chancellor of Soban Singh Jeena University (SSJU) in Almora, Uttarakhand India, attended the convocation as the Special Guest.     

A total of 372 students graduated on the occasion. They completed the Bachelor's and Master's degrees from various faculties: humanities and sociology, education, management, engineering and agriculture. (RSS)
