Chandrapur (Rautahat), March 8: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the political parties should not forget their responsibilities towards people.

Addressing an assembly of the party as part of Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign at Laukaha of Rautahat on Saturday, the Maoist Centre Chairman argued that the Madhes-centric political parties are losing public trust due to their opportunistic character.

On the occasion, Chairman Prachanda said that the party's ongoing campaign was conducted along the Postal Highway to get familiar with the issues of Madhesi people.

Saying that poor irrigation facilities, weak road networks, lack of quality education and other developmental issues were the major challenges to the people in Tarai-Madhes, the former prime minister pledged to make maximum effort to address those challenges. He added that the Maoist Centre will always back those communities that have suffered from discrimination and underdevelopment.

Likewise, he said that the sacrifices of martyrs should not be forgotten adding that revolution in the country will be successful only from the support of the people from Tarai-Madhes.

On Saturday, Prachanda met with the party cadres and local people in Garuda, Durgabhagawati rural municipality, Gaur and other areas in Rautahat district.

Meanwhile, members of the Save Gaur Rice Mill Campaign submitted a memorandum to Chairman Prachanda seeking his support to resume the rice mill and protect the public land plot there.(RSS)
