Incumbent government believes in democracy: Minister Gurung

Kathmandu, March 6: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the government is a strong proponent of democracy.

Speaking of a session of the National Assembly (NA) on Thursday, Minister Gurung, also the government spokesperson refuted the accusation that the government is becoming 'anarchic'.

During his replies regarding concerns in the course of deliberations on the proposal to disapprove the Ordinance to amend some of Nepal's Acts regarding good governance promotion and public service delivery, the Minister said this.   

The proposal was tabled by lawmakers Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Jagat Bahadur Parki, Radheshyam Paswan and Uday Bahadur Bohora. 

Stating the government is committed to the care values of a federal democratic republic, he defended the relevancy of ordinances recently brought by the government. 

"The State belongs to all. This Ordinance aims to discourage dilly-dallying, bad governance and irregularities, establish good governance and achieve prosperity," he said.

"This government firmly believes in the democratic system. It is committed to safeguarding the core principles of federal democracy. We respect the glorious presence of the parliament. It is a false accusation to say that anarchy has escalated," the Minister said. (RSS)
