Kathmandu, March 6 : Former Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has pledged to support for the construction of Bhitthamod Dry Port in Mahottari.
He expressed the commitment at a
discussion organized by Jaleswor Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Birtamodh
today after inspecting the construction site of the proposed dry port to be
built near the Indian border.
According to his private
secretariat, Dahal said one of the objectives of the Maoist-Terai Madhes awareness
campaign is to understand the situation of the people in the border areas and
push development works.
The Jaleswor Chamber of Commerce
and Industry had also submitted a memorandum to Dahal.
Saying that Kolkata port has only
225 kilometers from Jaleswor customs to import and export goods from third
countries, Association President Shiva Chandra Chaudhary said the port is
accessible to all the districts of Madhes. (RSS)
