By TRN Online, Kathmandu, March 4: The Hidden Treasure has announced the launch of the “Designer of The Year” (DOTY) competition.
The press release stated that in celebration of its 30th anniversary, The Hidden Treasure is happy to announce the launch of a new and exciting event: the ‘Designer of The Year’ (DOTY) competition. This initiative aims to provide a platform for fashion designers, students, and aspiring amateurs to showcase their creativity and passion for fashion.
Auditions for the competition will take place in four major cities: Nepalganj, Pokhara, Biratnagar, and Kathmandu. A total of 12 to 15 talented designers will be selected based on their sketches and garments presented during the auditions. These selected designers will then have 4 to 5 weeks to prepare their final creations, receiving mentorship from industry experts along the way.
Participants will benefit from guidance sessions with renowned fashion designers, interactions with sewing machine specialists, fabric and accessories suppliers, and visits to leading garment factories. Each designer will create 6 to 7 original designs, along with 2 to 3 designs specifically for The Hidden Treasure, including a National Costume and an Evening Gown.
A distinguished panel of five judges will evaluate the designs and select the winner. The champion of the DOTY competition will receive an impressive prize package, including; a cash prize of NPR 150,000, a high-tech JACK brand sewing machine. The winning National Costume will be worn by the Miss Nepal winner at international pageants. The evening gown and other creations can also be showcased by our winners at international events. Additionally, one lucky model to walk on the ramp for DOTY will receive a direct entry as a contestant to Miss Nepal 2025 pageant.
The ‘Designer of The Year’ concept is designed to empower emerging designers who have previously lacked opportunities to display their work while simultaneously supporting the Miss Nepal pageant.
The grand finale of the competition will be held on April 12, 2025, at The Plaza, with the event being broadcast live on Kantipur TV.
Join us in celebrating creativity, talent, and the vibrant fashion culture of Nepal as we embark on this exciting journey to discover the next top designer!
