KP Oli Cup Football Tournament: Machhindra makes it three in a row

Kathmandu, March 3: Machhindra Football Club has won the KP Oli Cup Men's Football Championship for a record third time, to register a hat-trick of wins in the club-wise tournament.     

In the final match of the tournament held at Dasarath Stadium in Tripureswar today, Macchindra defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 2-0 to make it three in a row.     

In the match today, Machhindra who took the lead with a goal in the 29th minute of the match, thanks to an goal by TAC's Bimal Pandey. Macchindra doubled the score in the 72nd minute of the match, with Stephan Jamaha Jali finding the net, to make it 2-0.     

With the win, Machindra won the gold cup along with Rs. 1.5 million in cash while the runner-up TAC walked home with the runners up cup and cash prize of Rs. 500,000.     

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had reached the Dasharath Stadium along with his spouse Radhika Shakya to watch the final match. World Cup winner and Former captain and goalkeeper of the Italian national football team Gianluigi Buffon was present as the chief guest.     

The KP Oli Cup Football Championship organized by the National Youth Association Nepal had started on February 23.(RSS)
