Janaki (Banke), Feb 18: A total of
37 households facing human and physical loss caused by the wild animals have
been provided monetary relief in the district.
Lumbini Province government
provided the assistance to the households from a municipality and three rural
municipalities.
Raptisonari rural municipality has
33 families to receive the assistance, while Khajura and Baijaath rural municipalities
one each and Kohalpur municipality two, according to Division Forest
Office.
Senior forest division officer
Shankar Prasad Gupta informed that the assistance was provided for the loss of
human and domestic animals occurred in the last two years.
Total 1.9 million compensation and
relief amount was provided by the Division Forest Office. Of this, Rs 1 million
was provided for a human loss and Rs 900 thousand for the loss of domestic
animals.
Minister for Forest and Environment
in province, Devkaran Prasad Kalwar, ministry secretary Mohan Raj Kafle, and
chiefs of the concerned local levels were present during the relief handover
programme. The government officials vowed similar support to the victim
families in future.
Earlier, the federal government
used to distribute monetary relief to the families losing family member and
domestic animals and receiving injury in the attack of wild animals. It is now
the responsibility of province government with formulation of a directive on
relief distribution for the loss caused by wild animals, 2080. The directive
has also doubled the compensation amount. (RSS)
