Kailali, Feb 8: Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba has vowed government support for resolving the problems faced by freed kamaiya, harwa-charwa, haliya and kamlari.
During a programme organized by the Tharu Department of Nepali Congress, and Nepal Tharu Association at Hasuliya of Kailari rural municipality in the district on Saturday, Minister Rana, who is also the NC leader, said government would prepare a policy for elevating the livelihood of the freed bonded labours.
She reminded that the government had freed the bonded labour of various forms like kamaiya, harwa-charwa, haliya and kamlari in 2057BS. Now, the present government pays adequate attention to them so that they would be able to access education and health services easily.
Efforts are underway to manage sickle cell tests among students in the first phase. Although the sickle cell is said to be prevalent among Tharu people, it was gradually expanding to other communities, she informed.
On a different note, the Minister argued the two big political parties formed the government to forward holistic development of the country.(RSS)
