Morang, Feb 1: House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said that preparations were underway to devise legislations sought by the province governments and for that he was closely coordinating with the government.
Talking to journalists in Biratnagar on Saturday, Speaker Ghimire cited the practice of introducing ordinances while House (parliament) is not running.
He said that the ordinances brought by the incumbent government would go through deliberation in parliament to reach conclusions.
"Ordinances are brought when there is no House session running. The ordinances introduced when parliament was not running have been presented to the parliament. There are 14 bills under consideration at parliamentary committees at present," the Speaker explained.
Ghimire shared that discussion was ongoing to determine a fixed timeline for deliberation on any ordinance to expedite the process.
At the programme organized by the Progressive Writers' Association Nepal and Bhudipuran Publications, he lauded the vital role of citizens of Biratnagar, political parties' leaders and cadres for establishment of democracy in the country.
He also noted the significant contributions of CPN (UML) and other political forces in establishment of federal democratic republic.
He suggested the Association to work towards eliminating social anomalies and caste-based discrimination thereby bringing about social transformation.
On the occasion, the Speaker unveiled a book named 'Comrade Hijo Ra Aja' penned by litterateur and politician Jivan Ghimire.
Similarly, CPN (UML) Vice-Chairperson Astalaxmi Shakya emphasized the need for collective efforts to further strengthen federal democratic republican system.
Author Ghimire, also UML's Morang In-Charge, shared that the book offers insights into some 400 people who were closely associated with him during democratic movements in Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari district.
The event also featured reviews of the book by Chandra Bhandari, Nirmala Koirala, Prof Dr Ramesh Prasad Bhattarai and Bimala Dahal Ghimire.(RSS)
