Kathmandu, Jan 30: The opposition Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has asked the government to withdraw the bill related to Operation, Use and Regulation of Social Networking Sites, 2081 which has been registered in the National Assembly by the government.
Issuing a press statement on Thursday, the RSP has urged the government to immediately recall the bill, while suggesting to bring it by incorporating the opinions received from the public discussions.
"We urge the government to immediately withdraw the bill and rewrite it as per the constitutional norms and values by holding consultations with the direct and indirect stakeholders," read the statement.
Acting General Secretary of RSP Kabindra Burlakoti has stated that serious attention of RSP was drawn to the bill since it tramples the fundamental rights and citizen's freedom which are guaranteed by the constitution.
The bill registered in the Upper House curtails the freedom of speech and expression, makes the citizens' critical expressions punishable and controls the civilian rights thus has undemocratic motives, the RSP stated.(RSS)
