Bajura, Jan 28: The Malika Model
Secondary School at Badimalika municipality-8 in the district has organized a
food festival in a bid to promote traditional crops. The school conducted the
food festival with the financial assistance of agriculture section of the local
level.
The event showed the foods and
crops, providing knowledge to the new generation. The students and locals were
made aware of the varieties of crops like corn, millet, foxtail, soybean, pea
and grams; methods of cultivation; and production at local level.
There were eight stalls to showcase
the crops. Similarly, 14 varieties of cuisines were prepared and displayed. The
festival was held in the school playground.
Mayor of Badimalika Municipality,
Amar Bahadur Khadka, informed that the festival was organized to make publicity
of local foods and crops in the national and international markets. It would
further help in protecting the indigenous agricultural products, he
believed.
Similarly, Deputy Mayor Nanda
Kumari Thapa appreciated the active role played by students to promote local
products and food items.
The cuisines like tortilla, momo,
rice pudding, pakora and jeri were prepared and served to the visitors.
Mayor Khadka vowed local level's
assistance to enhance student's skills and promote marketing for the food items
