Septuagenarian died in a fire that broke out at furniture shop in Dulikhel

By Kedar Timalsina, Banepa,  Jan.25: One person died on the spot when a fire broke out in a furniture industry located at Kabhrebhanjyang of Dhulikhel Municipality- 9, Kavrepalanchok district.

According to the District Police Office Kavrepalanchok, 70-year-old Tika Devi  Dangal died in a fire that broke out at Shyam Sundar Furniture and Wood Industry of local Shyam Prasad Dahal on Friday night.

Spokesperson for the District Police Office in Dhulikhel, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Min Bahadur Ghale said the fire started at around 8:45 PM Friday and was contained at around 2:30 AM on Saturday.

He said that according to Toyanath Dangal, who works in the industry, there was a sound of cracking around 8:45 PM, and the ablaze started. 

He said that Dangal's wife Tika Devi was burnt to death in the fire.

He said that five fire engines, two each from Bhaktapur, Banepa, Panchkhal, and Dhulikhel, were used to control the fire. 

According to the police, there was an estimated loss of Rs 8 million worth of furniture in the industry due to the fire.
