BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Jan. 25: Bioscope Cinema Pvt. Ltd. jointly owned by Shekhar Golchha, Chairman of the Golchha Group, and Ranjit Acharya, head of Prizma Advertising, has announced the production of a movie titled ‘Paran’ under its banner.

The company recently announced that Dipak Acharya, renowned for his role ‘Kaku’ in the comedy TV series ‘Sakkigoni,’ will direct the film, marking directorial debut.

The film will feature Neer Bikram Shah in the central role, alongside actors such as Madan Krishna Shrestha, Keki Adhikari, Prabin Khatiwada, Buddhi Tamang, Mahesh Tripathi, Anjana Baraily, Puja Chand, Subash Gajurel and Yaman Shrestha.

Additionally, the director’s youngest son, Aryadip Acharya, will appear as a child actor in the movie. Filming is set to begin in mid-February with locations in Kathmandu and Dhankuta.

At the event, Shekhar Golchha said that as the president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), he often felt disappointed by the lack of Nepali cultural representation in festivals held in various districts. He also pointed out that while there are commercial reasons for making the film, he believed that maintaining Nepali cultural authenticity was vital. He expressed that in the movies, this authenticity seems to have been lost, and it should be restored.

Golchha further explained that through films reflecting Nepali identity, the goal is to make both a commercial and cultural impact. He expressed hope that the project would contribute to a corporate culture in the industry, where all artists are fairly compensated and transparency is maintained, especially regarding taxes.

Chairman Acharya said that although the company was set up in 2017 with plans to enter the film industry, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the process, and the project later began in 2024. He also emphasised that the goal was to make films that are deeply rooted in Nepali culture for Nepali audiences. He added that the company intends to collaborate with international film production companies, attracting investment and promoting the production of international films in Nepal.

Superstar Rajesh Hamal, senior comedian Hari Bansha Acharya, actresses Dipa Shree Niroula, Nisha Adhikari, Film Development Board chair Dinesh DC, senior actors Ashok Sharma and Krishna Malla were present on the occasion.
