Janakpurdham (Dhanusha), Jan 11: Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) executive Chairperson Dharmendra Jha emphasized the need for the journalists to fully comply with the code of conduct for journalists while collecting and disseminating news.
Executive Chairperson Jha called for adherence to ethics at the closing session of a two-day training organized by the RSS's Madhesh Province Office at Janakpurdham in association with the Media Council Nepal in Madhesh Province today.
The training themed 'Role and responsibility of journalists in the changing context and the role of RSS' was imparted on as many as 30 journalists and employees associated with the RSS across the Madhesh Province.
Jha, also former President of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, argued that the journalists should not forget their role and responsibilities towards the State.
Stating that the non-compliance with the code of conduct by the journalists would give rise to anomalies and aberrations in the communication sectors, he highlighted the importance of ethical practice of journalism.
Recognizing the pivotal role of communication sector in the federal democratic republic governance system, he cautioned the journalists to ever remain aware about safeguarding the achievements of the democracy.
He urged the trainees to responsibility raise the issues aiming to bring about socio-economic transformation.
Likewise, Rajesh Kumar Karna, representing the FNJ, briefed about the challenges and problems of journalism sector, requested the trainees to put the training into practice.
Similarly, Media Council's Acting Chairperson Kailash Das informed that the Council had been continuously working to ensure the compliance of the code of conduct for journalists and capacity enhancement of the journalists across the Madhesh Province.
He viewed that all three-tier government should underscore the professional development of the journalists as well as prioritize promoting journalism sector their respective levels so as to address the problems facing the journalists across the country.
On the occasion, RSS's Madhesh Province's Chief Suresh Jha, RSS's Officiating Chief Reporter Narayan Neupane and RSS's English News Editor Krishna Sapkota enlightened the participants about the RSS's news production and dissemination process and other relevant issues.
