Mayor Nepali, cooperative victims reconcile partially but case on fraud charge will continue

Baglung, Jan 11: The Founding Chairman of Image Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization and Mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality Devkumar Nepali and the victims of the cooperative organization have reached a partial reconciliation.     

However, the fraud case against Nepali will continue. Currently, the Mayor Nepali is in the District Prison for further investigations.     

Out of total 1,573 victims, 547 individuals have settled their dispute with the organization agreeing not to claim the penalty amount.     

According to the agreement, the depositors will receive their deposited amount from Mayor Nepali's family property.     

Earlier, the Baglung District Court had ordered the reconciliation.     

Following the reconciliation, the 547 individuals, who had filed fraud cases against Mayor Nepali will withdraw their complaints.     

This has reduced the total penalty amount sought from Nepali, as these individuals have stated that they received Rs 237.5 million.     

The Baglung District Court had sent Nepali to the custody on October 1, 2024 on a fraud charge filed by 1,573 depositors.     

The depositors filed the case against 13 individuals including Mayor Nepali and 12 others.(RSS)
