Short film on ‘Ek Jor Jutta’ ready

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 8: A short film has been made based on the story ‘Ek Jor Jutta’ which is included in the Nepali curriculum for grade eight of the secondary level. 

The author of the story is Mahesh Bikram Shah.

Shah expressed his happiness about the film adaptation of ‘Ek Jor Jutta’, which was inspired by a real incident he experienced while travelling abroad. Another notable work by Shah, ‘Chhapamarko Chhoro’, was honoured with the Madan Puraskar.

The short film ‘Ek Jor Jutta’ features Shramika Luitel, Suraj Parajuli, Ram Babu Regmi, Geeta Shree Thapa, Sameera Thapa, Sitaama Khadka, Sahadev Basnet and Raju Karanjit.

It was produced under the banner of Aina Arts and shot by Narayan GC. The art direction was handled by Sumit Rai, while production management was overseen by Kabir Shakya. 

Anil Kumar Maharjan, who conducted a workshop at the Moon Creation Film Academy before the shooting of the film began, edited the short film.

The film was produced and directed by theatre artist Surendra Chhetri, who has been actively working in the field of children’s education for a long time and has also conducted drama training in various schools in Kathmandu. 

Producer Chhetri added that the short film was created to help students better understand the story, especially as teaching methods in schools are evolving.

 Chhetri’s earlier short film, ‘The School Wall,’ won the best award in Russia.

The short film ‘Ek Jor Jutta’ was written and directed by Mohan Abhilashi. 

His other works, including ‘Bhau,’ ‘Ghurra,’ ‘Paulo,’ and ‘The School Wall,’ have been featured in various international film festivals and have received numerous awards.

 Recently, Abhilashi has begun preparations to produce a feature-length film following the success of his short film ‘Drishya.’
