7,200 tourists visit Manang in a month

By Yadu Prasad Bhatta,Manang, May 18: A significant number of tourists visited the Annapurna trekking route under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) during Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May 2026).

According to statistics from ACAP Manang, a total of 7,200 tourists visited Manang in the month of Baisakh alone, indicating a steadily growing attraction among both domestic and international visitors towards the Annapurna region.

The data show that 969 tourists from SAARC countries visited Manang during the period. 

Of them, 738 were men and 231 were women. Among SAARC nations, the highest number of visitors came from India. ACAP Manang Office chief Dhak Bahadur Bhujel said that 961 Indian tourists travelled to Manang during the month.

Similarly, 6,231 tourists from other foreign countries visited Manang. Among them, 3,455 were men, 2,774 were women, and two identified as other genders. 

According to the statistics, the highest number of foreign tourists came from Israel, with 1,209 visitors.

According to tourism entrepreneurs, the rise in tourist arrivals in Manang can be attributed to favourable weather, improvements to the trekking route, and the growing appeal of Himalayan scenery. 

The Annapurna trekking route is regarded as one of the world’s most popular trekking destinations.

With the increase in tourist arrivals, local hotel businesses, transport services, and tourism-related economic activities have also gained momentum.
