Truss making on Tamor bridge begins 8 years after construction started

By Chandra Pandak, Taplejung, May 17: Truss making for a motorable bridge over the Tamor has started after eight years of the start of the bridge construction.

Being built along the Tamor corridor, the bridge connects Angbung, Amarpur of Hilihang Rural Municipality, Pachthar, with Nighuradin of Aathrai Tribeni Rural Municipality-1, Taplejung.

Tej Kumar Kurumbang, representative of construction company MS Sapana Yakthung, said truss laying started on Friday and with that construction works have been sped up.

He said truss making will be complete within 25 days.

With the works to connect the truss, the locals are elated with believe that they will be able to use the bridge before rainy season starts.

Both the locals and the stakeholders were infuriated for the extreme delay in the construction of the bridge for 8 years.

Dipendra Pomu, Chairperson of Aathrai Tribeni Rural Municipality, has been leading delegation to press the concerned authorities for completing the bridge construction.

The construction company had won the tender in 2018 February to construct the bridge at a cost of Rs. 221 million.

As it stretches from north to south, Tamor corridor links China and India through Nepal.
