By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 18: Madhupark, a literary monthly published by the Gorkhapatra Corporation, has published a special short story issue to mark the 59th year of its publication.
The 112-page special edition features short stories written in Nepali by 22 contemporary writers.
It includes stories by senior writers Dhruba Chandra Gautam, Padmabati Singh, Ashesh Malla, Bhaupanthi, Dhruba Sapkota and Jainendra Jiban.
Similarly, a critique by Dr. Gyanu Adhikari titled Uttarbarti Nepali Kathaka Prabrittigat Chetana (The tendencies and consciousness in contemporary Nepali short stories) apprises readers of the diverse concerns and evolving approaches found in recent Nepali short stories.
Likewise, in his article Katha Samalochanako Adhunatan Dristikon, Dr. Dayaram Shrestha discusses contemporary trends in short story criticism.
In his editorial column, editor Tulsihari Koirala urges writers to remain attentive to the realities of a globalised status, observing, "There may be countless topics to write on, however, stories rooted in one’s own periphery and lived surroundings are perhaps the proper topic and true need of the time." The first issue of Madhupark was published on Jeth 30, 2025 BS. It has so far brought out 680 issues.
