Gandaki, Jan 4: Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Gagan Thapa said the party’s candidates should take achievement paper to the people in the 2084 BS elections.

Inaugurating a province-level workshop on 'Party and People's Representatives in Democratic System', organized by the NC Gandaki Province Committee in Pokhara today, he urged the elected people's representatives to work in such a way that they could carry the achievement paper while wooing the voters. General Secretary Thapa pointed out the need to be proactive in the next three years so that the people could feel the difference.

"Several achievements have been made in the country under the leadership of the Congress, but those works have not been adequately publicized. We have to work in a way that yields results in the governments we are in charge. Let's work responsibly to create a situation for going to the upcoming elections with the details of those works," he said.

Stressing the need for dialogue between the party organization and the elected people's representatives, Thapa viewed that it would help in addressing the expectations of the people.

General Secretary Thapa opined that the leadership to be established from the upcoming 15th general convention should be able to handle the party organization as the party has multi-pronged responsibilities on its shoulders. He directed the party leaders and cadres to finalize the renewal of active membership within mid-April 2025.

“It will take about five months to amend the party's statute and that it will be endorsed immediately after holding the statute convention”, Thapa said, adding the process of general convention will start on that basis.

On the occasion, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey said that the party should take ownership of the works done by the party-led governments.
