Galeshwor (Myagdi), Jan 1: Paddy and millet production has increased in Myagdi this year compared to the last year.
According to the Agriculture
Knowledge Centre, paddy production has increased by five percent and millet
production by two percent this year.
Agriculture extension officer at
the Krishi Knowledge Centre Ganga Lamichhane said that the production of millets
and other vegetables and fruits has also increased compared to the previous
years.
The production of paddy planted in
different parts of the district having one municipality and five rural
municipalities has increased this year as compared to last year.
According to the Centre, paddy has
been planted on 3,806 hectares of land in the current fiscal year, out of which
13,664 metric tons was produced. Last year, 12,979 metric tons were produced in
the same area.
Centre's chief Sanjeev Bastola said
that the production has increased compared to the past due to favorable
weather, less impact of diseases, adequate rainfall during the time of planting
and when needed.
Myagdi has 30,856 hectares of
cultivable land spread over 2,297 square kilometers. Currently, only 19,498
hectares of land is under cultivation.(RSS)
